I’m Vijay, and I’m a Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute Certified Coach and a Certified Facilitator in the Six-Types of Working Genius. I help CEOs and senior leaders at startups do hard things like fundraise, enter new markets, and build world-class teams. I am passionate about supporting others through both 1:1 coaching and through team/group coaching. I have successfully coached leaders through issues like Difficulty Fundraising, Challenges of Growing a Business, Co-Founder Disagreements, and Problems with Team-Building. Through coaching together, we will not only tackle any of these issues to find solutions, but also work on overcoming feeling stuck, stressed, and conflicted. My goal is to help you find new focus, rhythm, and “lightness.”
I connect with high-growth leaders thanks to my experience working with hundreds of startup founders. I was head of portfolio value at 500 Global, a venture capital firm with $2.7 billion under management. There, I led a global team helping startups in over 80 countries and their founders develop connections, raise capital, and create a thriving community.
Previously, I ran corporate innovation and partnerships for 500 Global / 500 Startups. I led a fintech accelerator and sourced Series A and B startups for Visa in the Asia-Pacific region. Developed a startup sourcing program in mobility for a Tier 3 supplier and oversaw GM mobility track in 500 Startups flagship accelerator, investing in 10 companies since 2018. And also created new incubation programs for LGU+ and Siemens in Korea, India, and Germany.
I created a venture studio for global bank BBVA as part of a team that made it the most digital bank in the world, and incubated a number of new businesses. I was a startup founder in fintech at Azlo and in e-commerce at Hungry Globetrotter, and was a management consultant at Kearney. There, I delivered insight and strategic advice on the impact on business models affected by policy, environmental trends, and technology shifts. I have a BS in Business Administration from Boston University as well as an MS in Foreign Service and an MBA from Georgetown University. Additionally, I am an alumnus of the UC Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute.
I’m also the author of the book, The Funding Framework by Leaders Press (a top new release in venture capital) and am an active angel investor in climate tech. When not coaching, writing, or investing, I like to enjoy the great outdoors, good food, and strong coffee of the San Francisco Bay Area where I live with my wife and two daughters.
