Victor Chan

Product Coach

Former Senior Director of Product Management, Oracle

About

I’m a product and leadership coach specializing in Enterprise SaaS. My mission is to help product professionals rise above the noise of crushing workloads and operational chaos to reconnect with what they love most: leading empowered teams and building innovative products that delight customers and drive spectacular business outcomes.

I’m professionally trained through the Center for Executive Coaching and backed by 33 years of hands-on product leadership in Silicon Valley, and I bring a collaborative, player-coach coaching style that blends 20% tactical best practices with 80% deep, energizing conversations that unlock fresh ideas and creative energy to move forward with clarity. My coaching is designed to help high-performing product leaders think more strategically, communicate more powerfully, and lead with confidence.

In my prior roles I held Director and Senior Director positions at ServiceNow, Oracle, and Siemens, leading global product teams, UX strategy, technical innovation, and go-to-market execution. I led the design of ServiceNow’s Customizable Agent Workspace, collaborating across platform and application teams with over 300 PMs, designers, and engineers. One of my most memorable roles was a two-year foreign assignment at Siemens HQ in Munich, where I led the localization and global launch of a contact center product into 30+ countries. According to my peers, my superpowers are my optimism, servant leadership, and uncanny ability to explain even the most complex ideas simply and clearly.

I hold a BS in EECS from UC Berkeley and an MS in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University, I hold 10 U.S. patents, and I’m the author of a blog, where I dive into the finer points of strategy, leadership, innovation, and design.

At home, I’m a husky dad, grill master and wok chef, international traveler, part-time caretaker of elderly parents, and occasional family wedding photographer.

Fun fact: When I moved to Munich at age 30, my wife and I brought along a 3-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son, and our family golden retriever. Needless to say, I had to learn very early in my career how to juggle family and work -- just like so many product professionals today.
