As a product leader on an executive team that grew an edtech online program management startup into a $5 billion public company, I thought I had to choose between happiness and success. I was unavailable to the people I loved. My health was lousy. Racing thoughts kept me awake at night. I could see that the people on my teams were suffering too.
But my search for a better way led to an incredible realization: Both a happier, more balanced life and improved work performance are available to anyone with a little courage, commitment, and consistency of practice. Stress isn’t the price of success, but rather the greatest barrier to career advancement.
If you’re ready to leave old perspectives behind, together we’ll tap into the evidence-based wisdom of coaching and the insights of modern neurobiology. Today, my life focus has shifted from software to people. I live in Portland, OR with my wife of 30 years and at least one of our three grown children always seems to be passing through. When I’m not working, you can find me exploring nature with our dogs, swimming or biking, picking my guitar on the porch, or geeking out over complex adaptive systems, evolution, and genetics.
