I am an engineering executive with 35 years of experience leading and scaling global engineering and R&D organizations across infrastructure systems and software at Transmeta, VMware, and Google. With a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington, I bring deep technical grounding and firsthand experience turning breakthrough ideas into technologies, teams, and businesses that scale.

As Vice President of R&D at VMware, which I joined as an early stage startup, I scaled engineering teams from 20 to more than 200 as the company grew through acquisition, IPO, and rapid expansion. As Senior Director of Engineering at Google, I grew and led a global organization of 400+ people where I championed and executed an cross-functional enterprise initiative that made Google Cloud a trusted platform for enterprise workloads. My teams were also instrumental in driving $600M+ in Compute ARR. Earlier in my career I served as Senior Director of R&D at the pre-IPO start-up Transmeta. My experience building global teams through periods of rapid growth has given me firsthand experience on how to guide organizations through major architectural and organizational change.

As a coach, I partner with leaders navigating rapid growth, greater responsibility, and complex organizational challenges. I bring particular insight into technology and engineering leadership while helping clients build effective teams, develop talent, and lead through change.

Outside of leadership coaching, I spend my time traveling with my family, coaching youth sports, volunteering, advising startups, and staying actively involved in sports technology. Most of all, I live by the following: work hard, play hard, and enjoy life!
