The COVID-19 Pandemic has made a sudden and shocking impact on our economy, especially the workforce. People across the globe are finding themselves jobless as companies have been sidelined and forced to lay off millions of hard-working employees.
This existential threat to our workforce has created a unique moment during which people, companies, policy makers and technologists have come together to create resources for those whose jobs have been impacted by COVID-19.
Our team at Mento is hosting Careers During COVID to highlight resources available to help workers navigate these unique times. It is becoming clear that we need to get used to this “new” normal, and luckily, we are already starting to get tools needed to make that possible.
Below are the topics we plan to focus on during the conference. Please stay tuned as we will be announcing the speakers and confirmed schedule in the coming days!

Let’s face the facts. Although there might be some companies claiming to be hiring right now, it’s nothing compared to the volume of hires from just a couple months ago. What will it take for companies to start to hire again and when will it happen?
At this point it's pretty safe to say that we were not prepared at almost every level for a pandemic. What could have business done differently in order to prevent such an astounding impact on the workforce?
Most things in life are a double edged sword. Right now, it might be tough to see the positive effects that COVID-19 will have on our workforce, but surely there will be some. What are those effects and do they have the potential to outweigh the bad outcomes.
